We have some good news and some worrying news to report from yesterday's training at Santa Clara, the last one before the team's flies to Chicago (today)
Here is the list of all the questionnable players and their current status: |
- James Riley is 100% fit but suspended for Saturday's game.
- Nick Garcia trained with his teamates until the end and is ready to start the game on Saturday.
- Ryan Cochrane: Same as Nick Garcia.
- Jason Hernandez picked up an injury yesterday and stopped training 30 minutes before the rest of the team with a sore knee. Should be able to start the game on Saturday.
- Adam Smarte is out with a knee contusion
- Jay Ayres is now fully training with the team. He should be back on the bench soon.
- Ronnie O'Brien only wached his team mates train yesterday. He is traveling with the team but is uncertain for the game.
- Kei Kamara is tired after his long trip with Sierra Leone but should be fit enough to at least be on the bench on Saturday.
- Jovan Kirovski and Gavin Glinton are not training with the team. They are both out for an undetermined period.
Lineup:
Yesterday's training didn't give much indication on the probable starting team for Saturday, but this is our guess:
Goalkeeper: Joe Cannon
Defense: with James Riley suspended again, the main question is "who will play right full back?" It should be Jason Hernandez, unless yesterday's injury keeps him away from the field. If he is out, 2 players would be in competition for the position: Jamil Roberts or Joe Vide who played in this position in the final scrimmage yesterday. Kelly Gray could also play right back, but Frank Yallop will probably prefer to use him in another position. Adam Smarte is out with a knee contusion.
Nick Garcia is back to training but not 100% fit yet. If Frank Yallop decides he is not ready to start, Kelly Gray will start as a center back again.
Midfield: Ivan Guerrero on the left wing and Ramiro Corrales as center mid. should be confirmed in their usual positions. 2 question marks are remaining:
- Ronnie O'Brien should start on the right wing if he is fit (see above). If not, Shea Salinas will replace him.
- Ned Grabavoy has not been very good lately and Kelly Gray may take his place tomorrow if Frank Yallop decides not to use him in the back.
Offense:
Kei Kamara will probably not start the game but will be on the bench, ready to get in if needed which means Johnson an Cunliffe will start the game upfront.

Listen to Kei Kamara:
Even though we don't think he will start the game, Frank Yallop seamed happy with Kamara's fitness:
He was also happy about having almost all his defenders fit and available:
