Earthquakes - Galaxy preview

"Just another game we need to win"

Probable starters against Galaxy around Yallop

Thursday June 12th, 2008

Probable Lineup

Everybody seemed to be on the same page at the Earthquakes' training session today. "It is another game we need to win". That's how we can summarize their state of mind.

The big question this week is who will play in defense. James Riley is suspended after his red card against Columbus last week and Nick Garcia didn't participate in the scrimmage today with the rest of the team. He will not play on Saturday.

"We will bring a player into play because James Riley is suspended", Frank Yallop said while the players were warming up, before adding: "I am deciding on that today"

A surprise on the right side of the Quakes's defense

While we didn't have confirmation that his final decision was made, it looks more than likely that Jason Hernandez will play with Ryan Cochrane in central defense, Eric Denton will be on the left side and (surprise!) Adam Smarte on the right!

The rest of the team will be unchanged compared to last week. The only slight difference is Ramiro Corrales and Ned Grabavoy who could switch, Corrales starting on the left wing, and Grabavoy in the center.

Kelly Gray in the center and Ronnie O'Brien from the right wing will try to deliver the same kind of performance as last week.

Up front, Ryan Johnson and John Cunliffe will start (see probable lineup below)

Back to the team's state of mind, Frank Yallop was very clear: "I don't think the guys are patrticularly excited, they're just looking forward to trying to win the game. it's just another game for us. We are excited to be playing at home, it's a shame it's not at Buck Shaw. This has been put in [place] before the season, so we're just gonna get ready to play."

We also asked Joe Cannon if he felt the same way...Listen to his answer:
