Manchester United sits 5 points atop of the EPL.
Can the nearest team, Liverpool, catch them or will they crumble under the stress of not having Gerrard and Alonso for this Sunday's match against Manchester City?
I have a feeling that the Reds will be red in the face come Monday when their lack of depth comes to haunt them. Rafa the red in the face. Gerrard is out with injury. Alonso is suspended. Keane is in London --playing for another team.
Who will Benitez start and what will his line up be given that their next match is v Real Madrid in the Champions League? Knowing Rafa it will be a conservative set up such that the Red do not lose. Can a champion be crowned that plays not to lose in place of the reigning champion which plays to win.
Barring last minute heroics from Torres I think this is the weekend that the EPL title goes to Man U who with a fully fit squad will undoubtedly trounce a weak Blackburn team who has not won at Old Trafford in 16 years.
Liverpool, with their conservative attitude, will draw, and given a Man U win, the weekend will leave the Reds 7 points behind with a March visit to Old Trafford yet to come. Of course, Torres could rescue them but who will get him the ball? Babel? Benayoun? Kuyt? Likely, Man City's defense will be the assist maker but with new Irish keeper, Shay Given, in goal I do not see Torres rescuing the blushing reds.
There is only one RED worth following in the EPL: The Red Devils.
