San Jose Earthquakes' defender, Jason Hernandez, has been called into the US National Team training camp in Carson, Ca. by head coach Bob Bradley.

The 25-year-old defender started the season as a left back but he quickly took advantage of injuries and suspensions to move to the center of the Quakes' defense and, match after match, became indispensable to his team in this position, pushing Ryan Cochrane on the bench for the last part of the season.
As a reward for his outstanding performances throughout the season, Hernandez will join tonight the group preparing for the USA's first match of 2009 against Sweden. The friendly game is scheduled on January 24 at 5:30 pm PT.
He is joining the camp that started on January 4 to replace Clarence Goodson and Corry Gibs, both unavailable. Even though he is unlikely to start the game, this camp is a great opportunity for him to try and convince the staff to call him again in the future.
The match will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel and Galavision (Jan. 24 at 5:30pm PT) and an appearance of Hernandez as a sub in the second half is foreseeable...Don't miss his first selection!
