While there is still no confirmation that the future San Jose Earthquakes' stadium will ever be built, a very important step in the process of building a strong club on the long run has been announced today: the construction of a new training facility, "the first dedicated training facility in the club history" according to John Doyle, will start...correction, has started today!
"At the site of the potential new stadium" (Coleman Ave., San Jose), as the official press release states, the "Amway Global Training Facility will feature one natural grass field with room for additional fields".
The facility will open this spring, will cost over $1 million and will be available for the first team and "for the future Earthquakes' youth academy".
If the facility itself shouldn't be spectacular for now, learning that the current ownership builds an expandable training facility and plans to create a youth academy in the near future tends to prove that it is commited to the long term evolution of the club. This is probably the best part in today's announcement.
