The two Bay Area teams, who share the lead of the Southwest Division of PDL, both play home this Saturday (May 17) at 7pm.
Saturday May 17, 7pm at James Lick High School, San Jose, CA
San Jose Frogs - Ventura County Fusion
The San Jose Frogs, who announced high ambitions for this season (read our pre-season article), have not disappointed their fans so far with 2 wins and 1 tie (against their Bay Area rivals, the Seals). Every match will be important this season as their main objective is to win the League, but the next two also count towards the US Open Cup qualification, which is part of their ambition as well. Tomorrow, they receive at James Lick High School the Ventura County Fusion who only played two games so far (2 ties); an opportunity to confirm their good start and to stay in the race for the Cup, before a difficult trip to Fresno (Friday May 23, 7pm), against the Fuego, last year Southwest Division's Champion.
Saturday May 17, 7pm at Negoesco Stadium (USF), San Francisco, CA
San Francisco Seals - Orange County Blue Stars
Half-Time show: The Agent Deadlies
Nobody really expected the San Francisco Seals to be so high so soon this season, but after 3 games away, including one at San Jose and one at Fresno, two of their supposedly strongest opponents, they share the top position with the Frogs, and became a serious contender for the US Open Cup qualification. Their striker, Kellan Wilson (3 goals in 3 matches), will be their best weapon for the next 2 home games against the Orange County Blue Stars and the Ventura County Fusion (Saturday May 24, 8pm at Negoesco). The Seals have announced that all of their home games will be accompanied by local bands giving free punk concerts at half time. At tomorrow's home opener, the group who will entertain the fans during the break will be the Agent Deadlies.
