San Jose Frogs 2 - 0 South California Seahorses
The San Jose Frogs took the lead early on Friday night and scored a second goal in the 24th minute. The Southern California Seahorses then tried hard to come back but never seemed to be able to to really threaten the Frogs. However, things have not been so easy for San Jose, especially after Aaron Perego received a red card with more than 35 minutes to go.
In the first minutes, San Jose controlled the ball most of the time. They were passing the ball around well and they logically found the net after 13 minutes when Javier Ayala-Hill crossed the ball from the right for Andrew Wiedeman's head 6 yards from the goal. Andrew Tyler couldn't do anything (1-0, 13th)
San Jose continued to control the game almost easily and 9 minutes later, Savio Carrijo doubled the score on a cross from the left by Aaron Perego deflected by Wiedeman.
The visitors then had their first chances. On one of them, Frogs' defenders had to save 3 shots on the line. They had other good shots from outside of the box, but never really managed to approach the goal.
Afer the break, the Seahorses brought more enrgy into the game. It wasn't enough to overwhelm the Frogs' defense but then, an event could have changed the story: without being warned before, Aaron Perego received a red card for a tackle from behind.
San jose backed up and the Seahorses started to possess the ball, creating multiple opportunities. They were close to reduce the gap a couple of times but always missed a little something to finish. The second goal had probably been precious for the Frogs, who stayed calm and never panicked. Finally, the score remained unchanged and after last week's undeserved loss, the 3 points bring them back in the race for the playoffs.
San Francisco Seals 1-2 San Fernando Valley Quakes
Not many positive things to say about the Seals' performance this afternoon at Negoesco. The Quakes' victory was totally deserved and with a few players missing, San Francisco was far from the performances they produced since the beginning of the Season...
