Andre Luiz: "I am an Earthquake"

Seen in the locker room area after tonight's game against DC United (2-2 Read Match Report Here), the brasilian international defender (19 selections, 2 goals), Andre Luiz Moreira just had time to confirm to me he had signed a contract with the San Jose Earthquakes before I've been told by the Quakes' Communications staff that I couldn't interview him tonight as nothing was official.

However, it seems almost certain now that the ex-Sao Paulo, Corinthians (Brasil), Tenerife (Spain), Olympique Marseille, Paris Saint Germain and AC Ajaccio (France) defender's signing will be announced soon, probably in the first days of next week.

What I can say about him is what I remember from his years in France. He played one season for Marseille in 2001 on loan (from Tenerife, I think) and had a good season, before being transfered to l'OM's biggest rival, Paris Saint Germain. He stayed one season in Paris (2002-2003) where he had a difficult time. He then went back to Brasil and came back to France, after a stop in Portugal where he appeared only 3 times for Benfica.

The 34 year-old defender joined Ajaccio AC (French top division back then) in 2004 where he stayed 2 seasons, played 54 games and left a very good image of himself.

His Wikipedia page (here) says that he spent the last 2 seasons in Mexico at Chiapas FC (Jaguares) where he played 51 games.

He has for sure the ability to be a great player for the Earthquakes, the only question being in which shape he currently is...

...I should be able to tell you more soon!
